Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 June 2026
Zero Chance ("we", "us", "our") operates the Zero Chance safety platform at zerochance.ng. This policy explains how we collect and handle your personal data, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
1. Who we are
Zero Chance is the data controller for personal data processed through this service. For any data protection question, including access, correction, deletion or complaint requests, contact privacy@zerochance.ng.
2. What we collect
- Account data (drivers, admins, passengers): name, email, phone, password hash, role.
- Driver verification data: selfie, driver's licence, NIN/BVN-linked identity checks, vehicle documents (insurance, roadworthiness, registration).
- Vehicle data: plate number, make, model, colour, year, VIN, chassis and engine numbers, photos.
- Trip data: live GPS location, location accuracy and timestamps while a safety session is active, the vehicle scanned, and trip start/end times.
- Trusted contacts: name, email, phone, and Telegram chat ID you provide for people we should alert if your trip signal is lost.
- Payments: transaction reference, status and amount. Card details are processed by Paystack and never stored by us.
- Technical data: device type, browser, IP address, log events and error reports.
3. Lawful basis and why we process it
- Consent — you give us your trusted contacts' details and your live location only when you start a safety session.
- Contract — to verify drivers, issue QR codes and deliver the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interest — to detect fraud, prevent abuse and improve safety.
- Legal obligation — to respond to lawful requests from Nigerian regulators or law enforcement.
4. Location data — important
Your live location is only collected and shared while a safety session is active. The moment you end the trip, we stop collecting new location points. We do not sell location data and we do not use it for advertising. If your phone stops sending updates for 90 seconds during an active trip, your trusted contacts will automatically receive your last known location.
5. Who we share data with
- Your chosen trusted contacts — by email, SMS, WhatsApp and Telegram, only when triggered by you or by signal loss.
- Service providers: Lovable Cloud (hosting and database), Termii (SMS and WhatsApp), Telegram (messaging), Paystack (payments). Each is bound by its own data protection terms.
- Regulators and law enforcement — only where required by Nigerian law.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside Nigeria. We only use providers that maintain appropriate safeguards under the NDPA and NDPR.
7. Retention
- Trip GPS points: 90 days, then deleted or anonymised.
- Trusted contact details: kept for as long as your account is active; deleted on account deletion.
- Driver verification documents: retained while your driver profile is active and for up to 12 months after deactivation, for fraud and dispute resolution.
- Payment records: retained for 7 years as required for tax and financial records.
8. Your rights under the NDPA / NDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and associated data, subject to legal retention.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for location sharing at any time by ending the trip.
- Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@zerochance.ng. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel. We use row-level security to ensure one driver cannot read another driver's records.
10. Children
Zero Chance is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app.
